As the Derek Chauvin trial enters jury deliberations today, Indiana Borough’s police chief is set to meet with the public outside of the police office.
In a news release, Chief Justin Schawl said that he knows grief and anxiety continue to rise as Chauvin’s trial continues, so he is making himself available to talk with the public. Schawl said he will answer questions, talk about the police department’s mission, and simply just be there for people.
Chief Schawl said he will be available Monday and Wednesday at Café Amadeus on Philadelphia Street from 9:00 to 10:30 AM both days and from 5:30 to 6:30 PM on Tuesday via Zoom video chat. The zoom link will be posted to Indiana Borough’s Facebook page. The schedule is subject to change as an emergency situation that requires the chief’s attention will force him to be absent.
