The Pittsburgh Pirates started off their three-game series against the Brewers with a 6-1 victory in Milwaukee Friday night.
The first score came from the Pirates Colin Moran, who hit his third homer of the season so far, this one to left field to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. In the top of the fifth, Adam Frazier scored two runs on a bases-clearing triple. Kevin Newman and Dustin Fowler scored on that hit. Frazier would score on an RBI double by Bryan Reynolds.
The Brewers got their only run in the game on a Tyrone Taylor double that scored Jace Peterson. The Pirates got some insurance from a 2-run home run in the top of the 8th from Gregory Polanco.
J.T. Brubaker got the win for the Bucs, with an impressive pitching performance, going six innings and allowing 1 run on four hits, striking out eight in the process.
The Pirates and Brewers play tonight at 6:45 on WCCS AM 1160 and 101.1 FM
