A Greensburg man, charged with attempted arson and related crimes, was found guilty in Indiana County Court on Thursday.
Indiana County District Attorney Bob Manzi announced on Friday that 21-year-old Derrick Weber was found guilty in a non-jury trial in front of Senior Judge William Martin. He was charged with attempted arson, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief in connection with the attempted firebombing of a home along Route 217 North in Burrell Township on May 30th of last year.
Investigators found burn marks on the lawn and the home of the victim. They also found an unbroken Molotov Cocktail nearby that had been filled with gas and had a T-shirt wrapped around it. Weber attempted to set the victim’s home on fire over a dispute involving an accusation that the victim had killed a local dog.
Weber’s sentencing hearing will be held June 30th .
