In the final game at PNC Park before a nine-game roadtrip, the Pirates fell to the San Diego Padres, 8-3.
Here’s Joe Block with a full recap:
The Padres jumped all over Mitch Keller, who struggled in his third outing of the season. He would last just 3.1 innings after giving up seven earned runs.
The bright spots for the Pirates on offense were two RBI doubles. The first came off the bat of Erik Gonzalez, who got Pittsburgh on the board in the second.
The next came from Bryan Reynolds to bring the Bucs within four.
The Pirates move to 5-8 on the season. They will take on the Milwaukee Brewers tomorrow night. The “Brew Crew” are 7-5 coming off a series win against the Chicago Cubs.
Joe Block has a preview for tomorrow’s matchup.
