Adam Frazier and Gregory Polanco supplied the offensive support for the Pirates on Wednesday as they combined for three RBIs in a 5-1 win over the San Diego Padres.
Frazier went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a double and Polanco went 2-for-2 with a home run and a walk. Colin Moran and Erik Gonzalez also contributed to the Bucs’ offensive attack by driving in a run each.
Tyler Anderson notched his first win as a member of the Pirates after holding the Padres to one earned run and four hits over 5.1 innings pitched. Duane Underwood struck out three in 1.2 innings of relief. Sam Howard and Chris Stratton locked down the win after throwing shutout innings in the eighth and ninth.
The series wraps up tomorrow afternoon with Mitch Keller scheduled to pitch for the Pirates. Coverage begins at 12:10 p.m. on WCCS AM 1160 and 101.1 FM.
