The Penguins face off with the New Jersey Devils tonight after placing defenseman Juuso Riikola and forward Colton Sceviour on waivers yesterday. The moves give them roster flexibility with Teddy Blueger due back from injury and the NHL trading deadline coming tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock.
Sceviour has been a mainstay on the fourth line for the Pens and scored a goal on Friday against the Devils, his third of the season. He was put on waivers and cleared once previously, on March 9th, but was back in the lineup that night.
Blueger has been out since March 16th but has been a full participant in practice for over a week, waiting for team doctors to give him medical clearance to rejoin the lineup.
The Penguins continue to skate without injured forwards Evgeni Malkin, Kasperi Kapanen, and Brandon Tanev.
