GAME ONE: IUP – 9, UPJ – 6
Faith Jones and Kaitlyn Beers each collected a home run while Amanda Fischer won her fifth game of the year as IUP took down UPJ in game one of Friday’s doubleheader.
The game was tied at 5 heading into the fifth inning, but IUP drove in a run in the bottom half of the inning and added three insurance runs in the sixth to seal the win.
Jones and Beers combined for 7 RBIs in the game. Renee Wall went 3-for-3 with a double.
Fischer earned the win on the mound after striking out three over five innings of work.
GAME TWO: UPJ – 9, IUP – 5
UPJ opened the scoring by posting 7 runs in the first three innings to aid them in beating IUP in game two. IUP would trim away at the Mountain Cats’ lead in the final innings, but was stopped in the seventh.
Margaret Russo hit her first career home run while putting together a 2-for-3 effort. Haleigh Zimmerman would also hit a home run in the game, while Hope Jones also went 2-for-3.
