GAME ONE: UPJ – 14, IUP – 0
The Crimson Hawks were held to two hits as they were shutout by UPJ’s Dylan Heid in Friday’s first game. The Mountain Cats rallied for 7 runs in the first three innings, and they put the game away in the sixth after posting 6 runs.
Markus Cestra and Austin Vigliotti collected both hits for IUP, and Cestra tallied a stolen base.
GAME TWO: UPJ – 10, IUP – 6
UPJ drove in all 10 of its runs in the second inning and relied on pitching to carry the Mountain Cats throughout the rest of Friday’s finale.
Chris Eisel got IUP on the board in the first with a solo home run. Nick Hess would add a triple and an RBI. Both would finish 2-for-4 offensively. Markus Cestra would collect a double while scoring twice in the game.
The Crimson Hawks fall to 1-17 on the season and both teams will complete the four-game series on Saturday at Owen Dougherty Field.
