The average cost of a gallon of gas continues to go down across the state, but Indiana County’s average is holding steady.
Triple-A reports that as of this morning, the statewide average cost of a gallon of gas is $2.97, that’s down a penny from last week and four cents from last month. Last year, as the pandemic took hold, gas prices were at $2.13 a gallon. The national average is now $2.86 a gallon. Demand for gasoline continues to increase across the United States, going up by four percent since the last week.
Indiana County’s average is holding steady at $3.06 a gallon, tying with Cambria County for the highest gas price average in the region. Jefferson County has the lowest average gas price in the region at $2.98 a gallon, with Westmoreland County not too far behind at $2.99 a gallon. Armstrong and Clearfield Counties check in with an average of $3.00 a gallon. Cameron County has the lowest average in the state at $2.77 a gallon, while the highest average is in Warren County at $3.10 a gallon.
Most of the gas stations in Indiana County have gas prices at $3.09 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.com
