For the second day in a row, the Reds scored more than 10 runs as they extended the Pirates’ losing streak to four by winning, 11-4, Wednesday afternoon.
Chad Kuhl struggled in his second start of the season as he allowed 4 earned runs and 5 walks in 4 innings pitched. Chris Stratton, Michael Feliz and David Bednar gave up 7 combined runs in relief.
Erik Gonzalez hit a grand slam in the ninth to spark the Pirates offense, but Amir Garrett would extinguish the rally by retiring the final three hitters in the ninth. Wilmer Difo went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and a single, while Phillip Evans went 2-for-4.
