BASEBALL
WEST SHAMOKIN – 9, PENNS MANOR – 4
Justin Smulik doubled and tripled while Bo Swartz drove in two runs to help the West Shamokin Wolves defeat the Penns Manor Comets on Tuesday. Along with Smulik, Ezeck Olinger also recorded a double while Lou Swartz went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
On the mound, Trevor Smulik picked up the win after pitching five innings in relief. He would strike out two batters while allowing only two earned runs.
SALTSBURG – 6, BLAIRSVILLE – 5
Saltsburg and Blairsville were tied at 3-3 heading into the final inning, but the Trojans posted three runs in the top half of the inning while holding Blairsville to two in the bottom half to secure their first win of the season.
Braden Staats went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs, while Brady Yard reached base twice on a pair of walks. Both he and Dom Speel contributed on the basepaths by collecting two stolen bases each.
Yard also struck out 11 batters in 5.1 innings pitched.
NORTHERN CAMBRIA – 13, PURCHASE LINE – 3 (5 INNINGS)
Maverick Baker and Evan Wiewiora each had perfect offensive lines as the Northern Cambria Colts mercy ruled the Purchase Line Red Dragons, 13-3, in five innings on Tuesday.
Wiewiora went 3-for-3 with three singles, while Maverick Baker went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Owen Bougher drove in two RBIs on the afternoon and went 1-for-3 at the plate. Isaac Kudlawiec picked up the win on the mound after pitching three no-hit innings and tallying three strikeouts.
INDIANA – 9, FREEPORT – 4
Austin Homer drove in two RBIs to help the Little Indians win their third straight game after taking down Freeport, 9-4. Homer went 3-for-4 with a double and two singles, while Branden Yanity and Lincoln Trusal each hit for extra bases.
Lucas Connell picked up the win after he allowed just one run over 4.1 innings pitched. Hunter Martin closed out the final 2.2 innings to pick up the save.
SOFTBALL
PENNS MANOR – 12, WEST SHAMOKIN – 7
The Comets held a 6-5 lead heading into the final inning, but strung together six runs to seal the win over West Shamokin on Tuesday. Jada Bennett and Kassidy Smith each collected two hits on the day, with Smith going 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs. Bennett went 2-for-4 and scored twice.
Anna Peterman earned the win on the mound after striking out nine batters in 5.2 innings pitched.
