A longtime fixture in the Indiana County business community has passed away.
Barbara Bearer, known to many as “Barb,” passed away last Sunday at her home in Burrell Township. She and her husband Martin co-founded the North Cambria Fuel Company, a coal mining company, in 1952 and from there, she went into many different business ventures. She and Martin were owners of the Chestnut Ridge Inn on the Green, the Comfort Inn in Blairsville, Chestnut Ridge Motors, Indiana Sales and Service, and Ridgeview Diner.
Outside of the business world, Barb was a longtime member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St. Simon and Jude Church. In 2012, she was a Papal Honors recipient and was inducted into the Order of St. Gregory the Great.
