Brubaker held Minnesota to one hit and struck out four in his final tune-up of the spring, while Sean Poppen and Edgar Santana threw two perfect innings with a strikeout each in the sixth and seventh innings.
The Pirates finish the spring with a 13-14-2 record and will have Wednesday off to prepare for Opening Day on Thursday, when they visit the Chicago Cubs. First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
Todd Frazier returns to the Pirates:
Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic announced in a tweet that the Pirates and infielder Todd Frazier will re-unite, as the 35-year-old agreed to a minor league deal on Tuesday.
Frazier opted out of his contract on Friday after being told that he would not make the Pirates’ Opening Day roster, however he said that he was open to coming back to the team if he was unable to get signed elsewhere. He hit .250 in 28 at-bats this spring.
