A longtime music teacher at Homer-Center school district has passed away.
Former Homer-Center music teacher and Marching Band Director Edward D’Aurelio passed away on March 28th. D’Aurelio graduated from Laura Lamar in 1961, but would return to teach at Homer-Center from 1971 to 1997, and that would include two stints as marching band director from 1971 to 1983 and 1987 to 1996. Current Marching Band Director Jon Stolarz talked about how D’Aurelio helped him as he started as Marching Band Director.
High School Principal Jody Rainey said that D’Aurelio’s family is setting up a special fund to help music students at Homer-Center in his memory. The Ed D’Aurelio Music Project will provide mini-grants to students in Grades 7-12 who may not be able to afford to pursue their passion for music.
