A former Indiana man came up just short in his effort to break the Guinness World Record for pushups in an hour.
Endurance athlete George Hood, who now lives in Aurora, Illinois, tried to break the record at a fundraising event at Evolution Fitness in Boca Raton, Florida, but only performed 1775 pushups in the hour. The record stands at 2,919. Hood said that he just didn’t have the spring needed to sustain himself over the hour, and he may have over-prepared for the event.
Hood plans on tackling the record again in the fall, but has not announced details on when that might happen.
Hood still is a Guinness World Record holder for holding the plank position for 10 hours, 10 minutes and 10 seconds, and he set the record for the weighted plank at a fundraiser for the United Way of Indiana County in 2015 at two hours, 35 minutes, 35 seconds.
