Despite strong outings by Erik Gonzalez and Ke’Bryan Hayes, the Pirates fell to the Minnesota Twins, 5-3, on Monday.
Gonzalez got the Bucs on the board with a two-run home run in the third inning, however Jake Cave would plate two more runs for the Twins in the fourth after tripling to right and scoring on an error. On the mound, Chase De Jong finished his spring season with a 1.88 after giving up just two runs in 2.2 innings pitched.
The Pirates will finish their spring schedule tomorrow with a road matchup against the Twins.
