Operators for venues ranging from live theaters to museums will soon be able to apply for grants from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The SBA has authorized over $16 billion to be made available for grants for shuttered venues as part of their Shuttered Venue Operators Grant. Those eligible for the grants include:
- Live venue operators or promoters
- Theatrical producers
- Live performing arts organization operators
- Relevant museum, zoo and aquarium operators
- Motion Picture Theater operations
- Talent representatives
Eligible businesses need to have been in operation as of February 29th of 2020, and if the venue or promoter received Payroll Protection Program funding after December 27th, the SVOG will be reduced by the PPP loan amount.
The first day to apply for the grant is April 8th. Those interested can log on to the SBA Website for this program for more details.
