GOLF
Junior Nicholas Ward shot a 2-over par 74 in the second round as IUP finished in a tie for second at the Cal U Crofton Invitational yesterday. The Crimson Hawks shot 18-over par for the day, following a disappointing 32-over on Monday.
Davis & Elkins took the team title, with IUP tying West Chester and Millersville for second. Ward was fourth overall in individual scoring at 7-over. Jack Buccigross tied for seventh, at 11-over.
TENNIS
The IUP women’s tennis team is ranked No. 2 in the Atlantic Region as the Oracle/ITA Division II national and regional rankings, which were released on Tuesday.
These are the first regional rankings released since spring 2020.
Charleston is the No. 1 team in the Atlantic Region, according to the ITA rankings. IUP is No. 2, followed by Slippery Rock at No. 3, West Virginia State at No. 4 and West Liberty at No. 5.
The national rankings were also released, with the Crimson Hawks outside the top-25 and one of eight teams in the receiving votes category. They were previously ranked at No. 24.
IUP is 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC West.
