The Pirates put on a power surge in Bradenton as they collected 14 total hits in a 6-3 win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.
Adam Frazier tied the game at 1-1 in the third with a home run to right field, and Kevin Newman gave the Bucs a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly. Nick Gonzales, the Pirates No. 2 prospect, provided an insurance run in the eighth after hitting his first home run of the spring. Pittsburgh was also helped offensively by Ke’Bryan Hayes, who went 2 for 3 on the afternoon, and Gregory Polanco who had an RBI double in the sixth.
On the mound, Max Kranick earned the win after pitching 1.2 innings of relief. Starter J.T. Brubaker tallied six strikeouts in five innings pitched and Chasen Shreve pitched a scoreless ninth, earning him the save.
Prior to the game, the Pirates announced that pitchers Steven Brault (arm) and Blake Cederlind (elbow) will be shelved for some time, with Cederlind missing the most. Director of Sports Medicine Todd Tomczyk said that Brault could miss up to 10-12 weeks while Cederlind underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday, keeping him out of action for the 2021 season.

The Pirates announced on Wednesday that Sean Poppen (RHP), Cole Tucker (INF) and Miguel Yajure (RHP) have been optioned to Triple-A, while the following players were reassigned to minor league camp:
