The Pittsburgh Penguins are back in action today against the New Jersey Devils in the second game of a three-game series.
The Pens did get some bad news on the injury front as Evgeni Malkin is now on a week-to-week basis with a lower body injury that he suffered during the Pens loss to Boston on Tuesday. Malkin is the team’s third-leading scorer this season with eight goals and 16 points in 29 games this season. Head Coach Mike Sullivan said that there is a possibility that Malkin could return to the lineup by the end of the season, which for the Pens is May 8th. Historically, the Penguins Captain, Sidney Crosby has come through in the clutch when Malkin is out of the lineup. In 143 games without #71 in the lineup, Crosby has 61 goals and 112 assists. Last season, Crosby recorded six goals and 12 assists in 12 games when Malkin was out.
Tristian Jarry will start for the Pens in Goal tonight. Since February 18th, Jarry has been doing very well, with a 9-3 record in that time with a 2.33 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.
