Former coach Bill Cowher has chosen Steelers’ owner Art Rooney II to present him at his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in August. The announcement was made on Steelers.com yesterday.
Cowher said it was a “no-brainer” for him and that he actually made the request last year when he was selected for induction. When the Hall of Fame ceremony was canceled last year, he decided to wait until this year to make his announcement.
Cowher, safeties Troy Polamalu and Donnie Shell, guard Alan Faneca, and the late Bill Nunn, who will go into the Hall as a “contributor,” will be inducted on August 7th, and the Steelers will play the Cowboys in the Hall of Fame game on August 5th.
None of the Steelers’ big-name free agents landed anywhere yesterday. JuJu Smith-Shuster, James Conner, and Alejandro Villanueva are all looking for new teams.
