Cambridge Springs defeated West Middlesex, 51-36, to win the District 10 girls’ 2A basketball championship on Saturday, setting up a first-round state playoff matchup against District 6 champion Penns Manor.
West Middlesex had won the last five District 10 titles, last having lost in 2015. Penns Manor knocked them out of the state playoffs last year in the last game before the state basketball playoffs were shut down due to the pandemic.
Cambridge Springs raised its record to 18-3 with the win. The youthful Blue Devils, who had to replace three starters this season under first-year coach Ryan McKissock, held the Ms. Reds to just two field goals and only nine points in the second half.
Penns Manor won the District 6 championship by beating United, 54-30, on Wednesday night. The Comets are 17-6 after battling their way through the rough Heritage Conference, where they finished fourth. They played on the road the whole way through the Heritage Conference and District 6 playoffs. They last played at home on February 22nd.
The game will be on Friday. The PIAA will set the state tournament brackets today.
