Pitt freshman running back Malik Newton has been medically disqualified from playing football for the Panthers.
Newton rushed for 4,053 yards in three seasons at Lake Taylor High School in Virginia, but doctors said that for medical reasons, he will not be allowed to play. While Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi would not go into specifics, he said Newton will still be part of the team and “make sure he gets his degree if he chooses to stay at Pitt.”
