On Thursday night, the Penns Manor School Board accepted the resignation of their board president.
Robert Packer was not present at the meeting, but his letter was submitted prior to the start of the board meeting. Packer is moving from Clymer to Cherryhill Township, and while that is still in the district, District Superintendent Daren Johnston said that Packer is following school board protocol.
Packer plans to run for the school board in the next election.
Board vice president John Hardesty was elected as the new board president over Ron Larch by a 6-2 vote. Jill Eckenrode was elected over Larch by a 6-2 vote to be the new board vice president. To fill Packer’s seat for Clymer Region 1, the board can elect someone to fill that position. The board has 30 days to fill the vacancy before a citizen can petition the court. Applications are due on March 31st and a new board member will be selected at their April 8th meeting.
In other business, the board approved the 2020 superintendent evaluation for Johnston. The board gave him a “proficient” rating. A full report on Johnston’s evaluation will be posted to the district website.
