Indiana Regional Medical Center announced on Wednesday that it is now the first hospital in the tri-county region to offer MAKO smart robotics surgery for joint replacement therapy.
According to a news release, MAKO Smart Robotics has three key components for better outcomes for total knee, partial knee and hip replacement operations. Those components are 3-D CT-based planning, AccuStop haptic technology, and data analytics. The system is expected to have a more predictable surgical experience with increased precision and accuracy, which will lead to less cuts that need to be made and for surgeons to have more knowledge about what’s going on before the surgery has to be performed.
IRMC President Steve Wolfe said that the addition of the MAKO Smart Robotics system demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to provide the community with outstanding healthcare close to home.
