The Penns Manor Comets defeated the United Lions, 54-30, in the girls District VI 2A championship game Wednesday evening after a strong performance at the foul line provided insurance to pad their lead at halftime.
The Comets converted 18 of 25 foul shots with 16 of them coming in the second half.

Senior Kassidy Smith added that preparation was key coming into tonight’s game.
Senior Anna Peterman said this was a huge win after falling short in the district championship game last year and then having the state tournament canceled due to the pandemic.

Penns Manor will play the winner of Saturday’s District 10 championship game between Cambridge Springs and West Middlesex. The first round of the PIAA playoffs will begin on March 19 in Girls AA.
At Central Cambria High School, the Portage Mustangs upset the undefeated West Shamokin Wolves, 52-39, in the District VI Boys 2A championship game.
The Wolves held Portage to a one-point lead at the half, but the Mustangs powered back to extend their lead.

West Shamokin ends their season with a 22-1 record and will hold the title of the 2021 Heritage Conference champions. Portage will continue on in the state tournament.
