IUP has received another top honor for being a military-friendly university.
The honor comes from Victory Media, as it selected the university for their Gold Award designation in its 2021 Military Friendly School Ranking. The Gold Award status was given out to 162 universities across the nation and IUP is only one of six universities in Pennsylvania to receive the status.
Schools that make the military friendly list were evaluated using both public data sources and responses to surveys, with the universities judged in student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence when it comes to transfers or degree advancement, and loan default rates for all students and student-veterans. Other things taken into consideration include the efforts to recruit military students, success in that area, and academic accreditations.
Part of IUP’s effort is the Military and Veterans Resource Center, which opened in 2014. The center works with IUP’s programs and services, serving as a one-stop site for information and referrals in helping students transition to college life and achieving their academic goals.
This marks the seventh year IUP has made the Military Friendly list from Victory Media.
