The Pirates lost to the Detroit Tigers, 6-1, in a five-inning game on Tuesday afternoon, dropping their spring training record to 1-1-1.
Pitcher J.T. Brubaker started for the Bucs and took the loss after just one inning. He gave up a home run to Willi Castro.
The Pirates’ lone run came off the bat of Todd Frazier, who smacked his second home run of the spring in the fourth inning. It was one of only two hits by the Pirates, with other belonging to Ke’Bryan Hayes.
Pittsburgh returns to action tomorrow when the Pirates visit the Tampa Bay Rays. The Pirates’ next radio game is Thursday with the Atlanta Braves, airtime 1 pm on WCCS FM 101.1 and AM 1160.
