During their meeting Tuesday night, members of Indiana Borough Council discussed the early rumblings concerning the unsanctioned St. Patrick’s Day celebration called “IUPatty’s”
Chief Justin Schawl said that the police department has heard early rumors on social media of potential celebrations taking place either the weekend before or after St. Patrick’s Day. Last year, the celebrations were not as prevalent as it was at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Chief Schawl said last year that any gatherings were not healthy and he is echoing those comments this year.
Speaking of the police department, borough council gave its unanimous approval to the new police union contract. Details on the contract are expected to be released next week.
The board also approved appointing Jeffrey Boden as an alternate to the Zoning Hearing Board and Samuel Phoebus to the Shade Tree Commission.
