PSP-INDIANA
State police have charged an Indiana man with harassment with physical contact for an incident in mid-February. Troopers say on February 17th, the suspect, who was not named, was involved in a confrontation with a 42-year-old Blairsville man and a 46-year-old Indiana man at a location on Hilltop Drive in Burrell Township. The suspect pushed and tried to bite both victims. After refusing to comply with verbal commands from police, he resisted arrest and was taken into custody. After a criminal complaint was filed, the suspect was taken to the Indiana County Jail.
Police are investigating the theft of a wallet from a car in White Township on February 20th. Police say that the wallet, belonging to a 19-year-old Indiana man, was taken from an unlocked car that was parked in his driveway at his home on Dawn Drive. The wallet had the man’s social security card in it along with $100 in cash.
Scams are continuing to go on in Indiana County. One scam was reported on February 7th as the victim, a 38-year-old Indiana woman, was scammed out of $400 by an online entity through what police said was a dog purchase scam. Another scam was reported on February 18th, as a 57-year-old Indiana woman from White Township had her identity stolen and the information was used to file an application for unemployment assistance. Police were not able to identify a suspect in this case.
