The Pittsburgh Pirates opened their 2021 spring training schedule by defeating the Baltimore Orioles, 6-4, in an eight-inning game on Sunday afternoon. The game was aired on WCCS FM 101.1 and AM 1160.
Gregory Polanco smacked a two-run home run in the third inning to get the Pirates out to a 4-0 lead. The recently-acquired Todd Frazier added a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Chad Kuhl started on the mound and pitched one scoreless inning, striking out three batters, to be credited with the win. The Pirates used eight pitchers, including Shea Spitzbarth, who pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the save.
Attendance for the game was 1,705.
