Gas prices continue to remain high as crude oil prices increase.
Triple A reports that Pennsylvania’s average gas price is now $2.93 a gallon, a five-cent increase from last week, a 23-cent increase from last month and a 26-cent increase from last year. The national average also went up to $2.69 a gallon. Gas prices are going up after longer-than-expected refinery outages due to the severe winter storm that impacted the Gulf Coast that shut down several refineries. As the refineries re-start and resume normal operations, prices should become stable.
Indiana County’s average cost for gas is $2.97 a gallon. The lowest average in the region remains in Westmoreland County at $2.92 a gallon. Armstrong County is next-highest at $2.94 a gallon. Clearfield’s average is at $2.95 a gallon. Cambria County is at $2.98 a gallon and Jefferson County has the highest average at $2.99 a gallon.
Gas prices in Indiana Borough, White Township, Homer City, Clymer, Blairsville and Black Lick Townships are hovering at $2.99 a gallon.
