PENS WIN IN OT, LOSE ZUCKER

The Penguins controlled the action for most of the game against the Washington Capitals, but still needed overtime to win it.

It was a costly win as left wing Jason Zucker went down awkwardly on his left leg and suffered an apparent serious injury.  He had to be helped from the ice halfway through the third period.

Coach Mike Sullivan said Kasperi Kapanen brings a lot to the table.

Kapanen was benched in the Penguins’ last game against the Islanders and he and Sullivan had a conversation about his lack of engagement.  He said last night that conversation had a lot to do with how he played, and gave him a big boost.

Winger Jake Guentzel, whose goal came on a deflection of a John Marino shot, said the Penguins played a complete game.

The NHL has announced 24 changes to the league schedule, one of which involves a Penguins’ game.  Instead of playing the Flyers on April 13^th, they will play them on Saturday, March 6^th, at 1 PM.  That will create a three-game series with Philadelphia, all at PPG Paints Arena, on March 2^nd, 4^th, and 6^th.  The Pens will then play two more at home, against the Rangers, on March 7^th and 9^th, making for a five-game homestand.
