The Pirates signed veteran third baseman/first baseman Todd Frazier to a minor league contract over the weekend, giving them a right-handed power bat to split time with Colin Moran at first, primarily.
Frazier is a two-time All-Star with a career.242 batting average and 242 home runs. He played last season with the Rangers and Mets, hitting .236 with four home runs and 12 RBI in the shortened season.
The Pirates’ full squad reports to Bradenton on Wednesday and the first exhibition game is on Sunday against the Orioles.
