The Penguins had the day off yesterday, with no team workouts after Saturday night’s win over the Islanders. Pittsburgh has won three out of its last four games and skate against the Capitals in Washington tomorrow night.
Coach Mike Sullivan sent a message to his team in the third period of the game Saturday night when he benched Kasperi Kapanen, taking him off Sidney Crosby’s line and sitting him down for the final 13:37 of the game. Kapanen played only 17 seconds of the period, and afterward Sullivan said he didn’t “have his game going” and that he was “trying to find someone who was bringing it”.
