The minor league baseball schedules were released yesterday, and because of restrictions on the number of players who can be at the spring training site at one time, the Altoona Curve’s season will be delayed by a month.
The Triple-A Indianapolis Indians, the Pirates’ top farm team, will start their season on April 6th. The Double-A Curve and the Pirates’ Greensboro and Bradenton Single-A teams will start on May 4th.
All minor league teams will play extended series with each opponent to cut back on travel, and there will be no minor league playoffs this season.
The Curve will play 120 games, each of them part of a six-game series running from Tuesday through Sunday each week, starting at home May 4th with the Bowie Baysox. The team will have every Monday off. Altoona will play the second week of the season at Binghampton, the third week at Harrisburg, and then come home to play a series against Erie to close out the month of May.
Season tickets went on sale yesterday.
