State Representative Jim Struzzi is demanding that Governor Tom Wolf “take a look at the legislative ‘scorecard’ and no longer pursue” the imposition of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative on Pennsylvania.
Struzzi says Tuesday’s Independent Regulatory Review Commission recommendation that the state not join the 11-state compact “is a clear statement that RGGI is wrong for Pennsylvania.”
The IRRC called for a one-year delay in Wolf’s plan to join RGGI, until January 1st of 2023. At that time, Wolf’s term as governor will be ending. The review panel also directed the DEP’s Environmental Quality Board to provide details on Wolf’s unilateral decision, and explain point-by-point how it was empowered to develop the regulation despite the rejection of RGGI by the Air Quality Technical Advisory Committee, the Citizens Advisory Council, and the Small Business Compliance Advisory Committee.
Struzzi will join Indiana In the Morning on WCCS at 9:45 this morning, and Senator Joe Pittman will visit the program tomorrow morning at 8:10.
