IUP will start the spring golf season ranked outside the Top-25, but the Crimson Hawks are getting some notice. They are the 16th team listed outside the Top-25, with 21 points. That’s 75 points behind Missouri-St. Louis. IUP is the only team from the Atlantic Region to receive any votes at all, and is the highest-ranked team in the Northeast.
IUP was the number-one ranked team in the Atlantic Region when the season was stopped last year by the pandemic. They will return three PING All-Atlantic Region golfers this year, including Shaun Fedor, last year’s PSAC Golfer of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
The university says it will release the spring golfing schedule soon.
IUP Softball has released its 2021 schedule, featuring 36 games split among 18 doubleheaders. The Crimson Hawks will play home-and-away sets against their seven PSAC West opponents, and two doubleheaders against teams from the PSAC East.
The season is scheduled to start the weekend of March 5th and 6th against Slippery Rock. Friday will be an away doubleheader, followed the next day by the home opener doubleheader at Ruth Podbielski Field.
The PSAC Championships are scheduled May 5th through the 8th in Quakertown, with the top four seeds in each division competing.
