It took a goal in the closing seconds and some extra time, but the Penguins managed to get a win last night in Brooklyn.

Zach Aston-Reese and Bryan Rust also scored goals. for the Penguins and Casey DeSmith got the win in goal.
Coach Mike Sullivan says Malkin’s goal was a game-saver.
Sullivan was impressed with the play of Zach Aston-Reese, who was playing his first game of the season after shoulder surgery in August.
Aston-Reese said it didn’t take long to get into the flow of the action.
The Penguins are 6-5-1, and tied with the Islanders for fourth place in the Eastern Division. With 13 points, they are two behind the Flyers, five behind the Capitals, and seven behind the Bruins. The Rangers are just two points behind the Pens and Islanders. Four teams from each division will make the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Penguins placed forward Jared McCann on injured reserve and recalled veteran forward Frederick Gaudreau from the taxi squad.
Two games in the East were postponed last night because of covid issues. The Capitals, the Penguins’ opponent this Sunday, have had three games postponed this week because of covid in their opponents’ locker rooms. The Caps had lost three games in a row prior to their games being called off this week.
