One of the main reasons why schools were closed this morning was because of the condition of the roads, and PennDOT says that this morning’s storm was a bit worse than originally anticipated.
In the early part of the morning, roads were still slick, but PennDOT crews had been working to make sure that roads were passable if not completely cleared, that according to PennDOT District 10’s community relations coordinator Christina Gibbs.
Gibbs added that the storm that came through the area was different than what was predicted.
Gibbs advises motorists that they can check with PennDOT’s 511 PA website or smartphone app for road conditions and also for where plow trucks are. The web address is www.511pa.com and the app can be downloaded from the Google Play or the iPhone app store.
