The Penguins are off until Thursday, when they will have a rematch with the New York Islanders, the team they lost to, 4-3, on Saturday night. Then they’ll finally come home for a Sunday game against the Capitals at PPG Paints Arena, where the Pens have not had a game since January 24th.
The Pens had two games off last week when the New Jersey Devils suffered covid-19 issues. Coach Mike Sullivan spent two days off working on the power play, which had gone five games without a goal (0-for-19). They still have not scored a power play, but that’s because they had none on Saturday.
The status of winger Jared McCann is unknown after he left Saturday’s game with an undisclosed injury in the first period.
In the NHL East yesterday, the Flyers beat the suddenly-struggling Capitals, 7-4.
