In college basketball, Pitt lost to Virginia, 73-66. Justin Champagnie led the Panthers with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Panthers’ could not stop Virginia’s three-point shooting, particularly from their big men. 7-1 center Jay Huff and 6-8 forward Sam Hauser led a 12-for-24 barrage from beyond the arc while Pitt shot only 4-of-14.
Pitt is scheduled to play Louisville on Wednesday, although the Cardinals are having difficulty staying away from covid-19 issues.
