The Pirates have invited 26 non-roster players to Major League Spring Training, including four of their former number-one draft picks.
Last year’s top pick, second baseman Nick Gonzalez, will be joined by pitcher Quinn Priester, outfielder Travis Swaggerty, and infielder Will Craig. Nine of the Bucs’ top thirty prospects are invited.
Former Pirates pitcher Chris Archer has agreed on a one-year $6.5 million contract with the Tampa Bay Rays, the team that traded Archer to Pittsburgh in 2017 for Austin Meadows, Tyler Glasnow, and Shane Baz.
