At Tuesday night’s agenda prep meeting, Indiana Borough Council appointed a former First Commonwealth Bank manager as the new borough mayor.
With a six-vote majority, Joseph E. Trimarchi was named the new Indiana Borough Mayor by borough council. Trimarchi recently retired from his post as manager of First Commonwealth’s Public Sector Department. That department handled deposits and loan portfolios for counties, school districts, municipalities and other groups. Trimarchi is also a part of the Indiana County Planning Commission, the Borough’s Shade Tree Commission, the Westmoreland County Community College Educational Foundation, and the state association of boroughs’ Chrostwaite Institute.
Trimarchi talked about why he wanted to serve as the Indiana Borough Mayor.
Councilman Jim McQuown talked about why he felt Trimarchi was the best candidate.
Trimarchi will serve in that post until the end of this year. Other candidates for the position included William Simmons, James Rickard, Carrie Sutton-White and Milan Adamovsky. Adamovsky was the only one of the five not considered as he had not lived in Indiana Borough for some time.
In other business, Borough Council President Peter Broad announced that they have sent out requests for proposals for the solicitor through the post office. A deadline for those proposals was set for February 19th.
