One person has died in a fire at an apartment in Kittanning this morning.
Reports say the fire was called in around 2:30 AM, and fire crews were dispatched to the 400 block of North Jefferson Street for the fire call. Firefighters reported seeing flames showing from the building’s second floor when they arrived and started their search for residents who may have been unable to get out. The victim was found around an hour later in a bedroom on the second floor.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim, but they said he was a 60-year-old man. About 12 residents were evacuated. No other injuries were reported. The Armstrong County Coroner and Fire Marshals are continuing their respective investigations.
