At last night’s meeting, the White Township Supervisors approved starting the process to put together a new recreation board.
The motion was originally made by Sandy Gilette, who said that she anticipated a lot of activity in the township’s rec areas this year.
The board will now consider the responsibilities of the rec board and its makeup. The board also decided that Township Manager Milt Lady no longer needed to look for a recreation commission consultant.
In other business, the board heard from Todd Sherbondy of Davey Tree Expert Company about White’s Woods. Sherbondy said that his study of the area showed that the trees had a carbon dioxide value of $643,945, and said getting rid of the trees would release a lot of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
But supervisors continue to say that the proposed work in White’s Woods will be to remove undesirable trees and invasive plant species and is not a timbering plan in any way.
Supervisors were also given completed applications for two vacancies. One of them is on the comprehensive plan committee and the other is for the township planning commission. A decision on who will fill those vacancies could come at the next meeting on February 10th at 1:00 PM
