The Indiana Regional Medical Center now has a limited number of covid-19 vaccines available to the community, and has set in place the procedure for getting one.
While the focus will continue to be on frontline healthcare workers, IRMC says it has begun to vaccinate people ages 75 and up, following closely the guidance of the PA Department of Health and the CDC.
If you are a healthcare worker or are age 75 or older, IRMC has a vaccination interest form posted on its website (https://www.irmc.org/vaccineform/). One you complete it, you will receive an email alerting you if and when you are eligible to schedule your vaccine time. There will be no walk-ins allowed at the vaccination clinics, and IRMC notes that completing the form does not guarantee you will receive the vaccine. There is a waiting list, and the schedule will be adjusted as more vaccines arrive.
People may fill out the form for their elderly parents or relative, and must leave their own contact information. You will not have a choice of which vaccine to get. IRMC so far has received only the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.
One other note: The medical center says that the vaccination effort expands in Indiana County, they will need extra volunteers. Specifically, they will be seeking registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, paramedics, physician assistants, or physicians, as well as highly detail-oriented people willing to enter the required data into state websites. If you would like to volunteer, please email info@indianarmc.org.
