The Pittsburgh Pirates made two changes to their coaching staff yesterday.
Adam Berry of MLB.com reports that the Bucs have named Christian Marrero as the club’s new assistant hitting coach while moving former assistant hitting coach Mike Rabello to a dugout role.
Marrero previously worked with two Class-A affiliates of the Philadelphia Phillies from 2018 to 2020, and he also played 12 seasons in the White Sox, Pirates, Braves and Phillies farm systems where he played first base and outfield.
He will work alongside the Pirates’ hitting coach Rick Eckstein this upcoming season, a year after Pittsburgh was ranked as one of the lowest offenses in the MLB.
