It’s a big week for the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District, with parents asked to make decisions on their children’s educational model and with the district’s required public hearing scheduled to take comment on the proposed closing of the Saltsburg Middle/High School.
In-person classes begin today for elementary students in grades pre-K through 5, four days a week. Grades 6 through 12 will follow the hybrid instructional model that has been in place since the start of the school year.
Starting on January 19th, instruction for middle and high school students in grades 6 through 12 will follow the parents’ choice selected from the Instructional Model Parent Survey, which is located on the district’s website, b-ssd.org. Parents are asked to complete one survey for each child, and to have it submitted by tomorrow. There will be three options offered: continuing the hybrid model, returning to four days of in-person instruction each week, or going fully remote. The option chosen for each child will remain in place until the mid-third marking period.
The Section 780 public hearing will be conducted virtually on Wednesday and, if necessary, on Thursday, beginning at 5:30 PM. The district will use a Zoom platform and will also live-stream the hearing on YouTube.
Those who wish to attend virtually should contact the district at 780hearing@b-ssd.org or by regular mail at:
