Indiana County’s unemployment rate dropped once again in the month of November.
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry reported that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate went down six-tenths of a percentage point to 6.3 percent in November. That follows trends in the state and nation, as the state’s unemployment rate fell eight-tenths of a percentage point to 6.6 percent, while the federal unemployment rate was down two-tenths of a point to 6.7 percent.
Jefferson County’s unemployment rate was the lowest in the region with 6.0 percent. Westmoreland County’s unemployment rate tied with Indiana County at 6.3 percent . Clearfield is at 6.4 percent. Cambria county’s rate is at 6.6 percent, and Armstrong had the highest at 7.1 percent unemployment.
Total non-farm jobs in the Indiana County area went up 200 more than the month of October to 31,100. Among the published super sectors, the areas of trade, transportation and utilities saw the highest gain with 300 new jobs. All other super sectors were essentially unchanged.
